US Open Tennis schedule 2010 & US Open Tennis results: Melanie Oudin shown the door

2 September, 2010

US Open Tennis schedule 2010 & US Open Tennis results: Melanie Oudin shown the door. Another big casualty in the US open was Andy Roddick.

Melanie Oudin couldn’t repeat her magical strokes at U.S Open. The young star of ‘09 Open lost her tune when Ukrainian Alona Bondarenko checked her skill with steady ground strokes on Wednesday. Oudin who had advanced up to the quarter-finals last year, found her way out at the very outset of 2010 Open.

Failing to cope with the tight whether in and out the court, 18 year old American player lost the match for 6-2 7-5 to the 29th seed. Her fans across the country have been cheering for this third woman star after Serena and Venus Williams thanks to her shining performance last year.

Yesterday, Oudin was completely eclipsed losing final 12 points of the match at the National City Centre in New York. Falling in the pool of pressure Oudin made 21 unforced errors in the first set and 38 in total.

"I think the nerves got the best of me today a little bit," Oudin said with teary- eyes."It's tough coming back, especially after the U.S. Open I had last year, and expecting to do that well again."

She was cheerfully hailed to the Flushing Meadows thanks to her stunning show last year. In the last edition, unseeded Oudin came and beat big names like Elena Dementieva, Maria Sharapova and Nadia Petrova.  At the end she was defeated by Caroline Wozniacki in the quarter-finals.

Although she had lost the first round at the Australian and French Opens and failed to pass the second round at Wimbledon, Oudin came to U.S. Open with high expectations at number 43.

Bursting to tears for disappointing her native fans and smashing their hopes, Oudin said that "I still have hopefully like 10 more years in my career, hopefully 10 more U.S. Opens ahead of me." "I'll definitely be looking forward again to next year. This is still my favorite tournament," she said.
