Kozhikode: Police have taken into custody one more Muslim League activist in connection with the Narikkatteri bomb blast, which killed five IUML workers. The blast reportedly took place when Muslim League workers were making the bomb.
Thalil Moidu is the new suspect arrested by the police. Crime Branch CI Dhanjaykumar tracked Mr. Moidu, who is the brother of IUML legislative assembly candidate Sooppi Narikkatteri in Kuttiadi constituency. The guilty was brought in front of Nadapuram Magistrate Court, which remanded him to police custody for two weeks.
Moidu is also the secretary of IUML’s relief committee. Earlier, five IUML activists were arrested by police in connection with the bomb blast on 26th February.
Nadapuram is one of very sensitive areas with huge possibilities for communal riots in Kerala. In the past, there took place several conflicts among IUML, BJP and CPI-M activists. That is why the police and authority left much importance for the bomb blast case, especially because it took place when bomb was produced in Nadapuram.
In response to the news, IUML state leadership claimed that the culprits were not its workers. However, police proved against it. All the arrested in connection with the case were active workers of Muslims League.
