March for Urdu organized in Jamia Nagar

New Delhi, September 12, 2011: To promote the habit of reading Urdu newspapers, a unique movement has been started in Delhi recently. Under this movement the Urdu lovers under the leadership of Shamim Ahmad organized a march in Jamia Nagar and requested the people of Okhla to purchase and read Urdu newspapers for the development of Urdu.
The Urdu lovers started the march after paying tribute to Doctor Zakir Hussain at his tomb and roamed in different streets of Batla House, Zakir Nagar, Jogabai, Sir Syed Road and Moradi road. At Batla House Shamim Ahmad gave a speech and said that this is very sorry that Urdu is not getting its due even in Delhi where this language is the second language of the State.
He said that for the last eighteen years not even a single teacher has been appointed in Urdu Schools. He lamented the attitude of the people of Delhi who are not protesting against this.
He said that the increasing number of people who are joining this cause shows that they are interested to do for the development of Urdu but it should be in organized way. Shamim said that we should understand that if we will not work for the development of Urdu this language will die. Many important personalities related to Urdu also addressed the gathering.
Feroz Bakht Ahmad social activist and regular columnist for Urdu newspaper said that Shamim has started a unique movement and we all should give support to him. Shoaib Raza Fatmi, working president of International Human Rights Protection Association welcomed the audience for joining this cause and announced that very same campaign will be organized on September 13 in Seelampur.
