Child mortality rate: USA lags behind many Asian nations and even Cuba

24 May, 2010

If you thought that United States, a nation with one of the best medical science facilities available anywhere in the world, had least child mortality rates, you were clearly off the mark. USA lags behind many Asian nations and even Cuba.

Despite leading the medical science and bagging the largest number of Noble Prizes in the medical sciences, the country lags behind many European, Asian, South East Asian nations besides of course keep your breath Middle East nations and its nemesis Cuba.

Yes. This is a fact and it is going to be published in a top medical science journal published from UK.

The most powerful nation seems to have gone too far in flexing its muscles rather than spending money and resources in essential services like making medical facilities more affordable.

The medical facilities in the US despite being top class, are way too expensive for many not just poor Blacks and Latinos but also many middle class White population as well.

Lancet, a top British medical journal is going to publish the findings that places the mightiest nation on earth, the United States of America on 42nd position when it came to child mortality rate. Two decades ago, the US was 29th in the ladder.

So in the last twenty years, the medical facilities in the US have deteriorated instead of making any improvement.

Laura Beavers, who is the coordinator of the national Kids Count says, “It's really just hard to fathom”.
